Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut is located in the breathtaking Blue Ridge Mountains in scenic Laurel Springs, NC.   The little town of Laurel Springs has lots of friendly neighbors, activities for all ages, and charming places to nestle down for the night.

Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut is located only a mile from milepost 248 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Parkway consists of 469 miles of breathtaking views connecting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina to the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.  Doughton Park, the largest recreational area on the Blue Ridge Parkway, is located only 8 miles north from Lil’ Grandfather Mountain Choose and Cut at milepost 248.

Thistle Meadow Winery and Burgiss Farm Bed and Breakfast  are located 2 miles from Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut.  The Burgiss Farm Bed and Breakfast is a wonderfully unique Bed & Breakfast located on a 125-acre farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of northwestern North Carolina; just down the road from the Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut. Guests enjoy staying in a 110 year-old farmhouse, where a mountain stream runs through the middle of the living room. Only 2 miles north of Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut, another wonderful neighbor of Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut is Doughton Hall Bed and Breakfast. Doughton-Hall has 23 rooms for living and offers four bedrooms with private baths and whirlpool tubs.  Two of these rooms offer a queen size bed, one room with one double bed, and the last with two double beds.  After a good night’s sleep with a cool breeze from the open windows and only the sounds of the country, you'll wake up to fresh brewed coffee and an assorted fruit dish to start your day.  Breakfast is sure to please, offering a "family style" meal of a traditional breakfast of country ham, eggs, grits, gravy and biscuits, to a soufflé' and croissants.

Just a mile north on highway 18 from Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut, you will find Freeborne's Eatery and Lodge where every detail has been addressed to ensure a setting perfect for relaxing and enjoying -- a true opportunity to slow down, relax and enjoy the area's fantastic amenities.  Completely renovated and opened in the spring of 2009, Freeborne’s offers a 1950's style motor lodge with cottage rentals and a full service restaurant and lounge.

Another close neighbor to Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut is Laurel Ridge Camp, Conference, and Retreat Center.  Since 1960, Laurel Ridge has served as the camp, conference and retreat center of the Moravian Church, Southern Province. Laurel Ridge’s 688 acres of woods, hiking trails, waterfalls, and spectacular mountain views draw visitors from around the globe. Laurel Ridge offers a full schedule of year-round programming for all ages. Their facilities are available for reservation by individuals, churches and groups of all faiths and other non-profit organizations for conferences, retreats and educational events.
